In an interview with PUNCH Healthwise, the United Kingdom-based General Practitioner with a subspecialty in Family medicine, Dr Itunu Johnson-Sogbetun, stated that obesity, a sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits can cause an increase in painful ovulation.
She further noted that only about 20 to 40 per cent of women experience painful ovulation, adding that the pain might not occur every month.
According to a non-profit academic medical centre, Cleveland Clinic, ovulation pain, is a pelvic pain that some women experience during their monthly period.
