A pulmonologist, Dr Kunle Olaotan, says children exposed to secondhand smoke significantly stand the risk of developing respiratory distress.
He also warned that they have a 40 per cent higher risk of developing pneumonia, bronchitis, and other respiratory infections.
Recently, a video showing a young woman smoking shisha and blowing the smoke in the face of an infant surfaced on social media.
The video has since sparked outrage among concerned Nigerians, with many calling on the police to arrest and have her prosecuted.
Already, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has announced that investigations have commenced and will ensure that such acts are not repeated.
The DSVA officials said they are seeking assistance from the public on information that might help identify the woman.
