Cardiologists say cardiovascular-related deaths may be reduced by 50 per cent in the country if people are aware of their blood pressure status.
The specialists said high or low blood pressure is a simple condition that can easily be diagnosed, but warned that if neglected can result in a rise in sudden deaths.
A Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine with the University of Abuja, Augustine Odili, said there is an urgent need for every Nigerian to know their Blood Pressure status, noting that the Nigerian Cardiac Society recently launched a campaign, ‘Know-Your-Number,’ to reduce cardiovascular deaths among Nigerians.
