The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has shut down 10 unregistered bakeries and eight table water factories in the Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, South South Nigeria.
NAFDAC revealed that the operation, which lasted three days, was carried out with the assistance of policemen.
It further noted that it was meant to rid the state of fake and unwholesome products.
This was contained in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday by NAFDAC’s Public Relations Officer, South-South Zone, Mr Cyril Monye.
He disclosed that some of the factories operated in an unhygienic environment and carried the names of popular brands in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
