According to Punch News, the Abia State Police Command has confirmed the deaths of five members of the same family in Umuimo, Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of the state.
The victims, identified as Kachi Nnabugwu, his wife Chinaza and their three children, were found dead inside their residence after relatives became concerned when they had not been seen or reached for several days.
Police spokesperson DSP Maureen Chinaka said the incident was reported by the deceased’s brother, who forced entry into the house with others after repeated attempts to contact the family failed. Detectives later visited the scene, documented evidence and moved the bodies to a morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Residents said the family was last seen on July 18, while containers of leftover food and a generator were reportedly found inside the house. Police said investigations are continuing to determine the cause of the deaths.
