A three-storey student hostel, identified as Elite Five Star Lodge in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has collapsed, leaving an unknown number of occupants feared trapped beneath the debris, Punch News reports.
The incident occurred early Monday, triggering panic among residents and students. Emergency responders, including the Anambra State Fire Service, the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency, and security operatives, launched rescue operations.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed that several injured victims had been pulled from the rubble and taken to a hospital, while efforts continued to reach others. Casualty figures have not yet been confirmed.
