A family dispute in Edo State took a dramatic turn when an eldest daughter and her guests were allegedly barred from entering the reception venue after their mother’s funeral because she did not contribute the amount her siblings demanded for the burial expenses.
According to Linda Ikeji’s Blog, the woman’s siblings had requested that she contribute N2.5 million towards hiring the reception hall. However, the eldest sister, a single civil servant, reportedly explained that she could not afford the amount and instead made a smaller financial contribution.
The disagreement allegedly escalated on the day of the funeral when the siblings refused to allow her and her guests into the reception venue.
As a result, the woman and those who accompanied her were forced to remain outside in the rain. She reportedly served food to her guests from the trunk of a car after being denied access to the hall.
The incident, which occurred in Edo State, has sparked widespread outrage and reactions on social media, with many expressing disappointment over the family conflict overshadowing the funeral ceremony.
