A 25-year-old pastor, Bernard Mulongo of New Restoration Church of Christ, was allegedly killed hours after taking part in a Christian-Muslim debate in Uganda’s Butebo District, where two Muslim women reportedly converted to Christianity.
MorningStar reports that police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Investigators are treating an imam who participated in the debate with Pastor Mulongo as a prime suspect, while reports indicate the cleric has gone into hiding
According to the report, Mulongo and a friend were travelling on a motorcycle when they were intercepted by a group of riders near Jami village.
The pastor’s companion escaped and alerted authorities, who later found Mulongo dead with multiple injuries. His body was taken to Mbale City Mortuary for a post-mortem before being released for burial.
Police said investigations are ongoing, and no arrests had been announced at the time of reporting.
