A judge of the Kebbi State High Court, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, has been abducted by suspected bandits from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to Vanguard News, the attackers stormed the judge’s home along Zogirma Road shortly after he returned from Sokoto in the early hours of Sunday.
They reportedly fired sporadically before taking him away, while no other member of the household was harmed.
The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the incident, saying tactical and intelligence teams had been deployed on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Umar Muhammad Hadejia, to secure the judge’s safe rescue.
Officers are said to be combing identified locations, including nearby forests, as part of the operation.
A senior official of the Kebbi State High Court, who spoke anonymously, described the abduction as a painful development for the judiciary and disclosed that the court’s management had met with security agencies to coordinate efforts for the judge’s immediate release.
