A 27-year-old Nigerian based in the United Kingdom, Oliuwadamilola Ogunyankinnu, has been charged with the murder of a 21-year-old man, Finbar Sullivan, who died after being stabbed during a fight in London.
PUNCH Metro learnt from separate statements obtained on the website of the London Metropolitan Police on Monday that the incident occurred on April 7 in Primrose Hill, London.
According to the statement, a fight had broken out involving the deceased in the area, prompting members of the public to alert the police.
The statement noted that upon arrival at the scene with paramedics, efforts were made to save the victim, but he died at the scene.
The statement read, “Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Primrose Hill have named the victim as they continue to appeal for information from the public.
“Finbar Sullivan, aged 21, was fatally stabbed on Tuesday, 7 April. His next of kin have been informed and continue to be supported by specialist officers.
“Officers were called at 18:41hrs to reports of a fight at the viewpoint in Primrose Hill. Upon arrival, police and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service found Finbar with stab wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene.”
It added that another victim was found in a nearby area with non-life-threatening injuries, noting that investigations were ongoing.
“Another man, believed to be in his 20s, was located nearby on Regent’s Park Road. He was taken to a hospital by paramedics with stab wounds.
“His injuries have since been confirmed as non-life-threatening and non-life-changing,” it added.
In another update on the incident, the police said they arrested the Nigerian suspect alongside another person suspected of aiding him.
It added that Ogunyankinnu was arrested on Friday and charged with murder on Sunday.
According to the police, he is scheduled to be arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Stratford.
“Detectives have charged a man with the fatal stabbing of 21-year-old Finbar Sullivan, which took place on Tuesday, 7 April in Primrose Hill.
“Oluwadamilola Ogunyankinnu, 27 (29.12.1998) of Southbury Road, Enfield, was arrested on Friday, 10 April, and charged with murder on Sunday, 12 April. He will appear at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 13 April.
“The 25-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, was released with no further action,” the statement noted.
Ogunyankinnu is not the first Nigerian to be caught in the web of a murder trial.
PUNCH Metro reported on March 26 that a Nigerian national, Chukwuemeka Ahanonu, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a 56-year-old woman he attacked on a street in Leicester, UK, after crashing his car while under the influence of cannabis.
The Leicestershire Police had stated that the 24-year-old assaulted the victim, Nila Patel, on June 24, 2025, along Infirmary Road.
Following a trial at Leicester Crown Court, he was found guilty by a jury and sentenced to life imprisonment.

POLICE NAB 33 TERROR SUSPECTS, RECOVER ANTI-AIRCRAFT LAUNCHER.
Operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response The team has arrested 33 suspected members of a criminal network linked to terrorism, kidnapping, and armed robbery, recovering an anti-aircraft launcher and several high-grade weapons.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, disclosed this on Monday during a press briefing at the FID-IRT headquarters in Abuja.
Placid said the 33 suspects were apprehended in coordinated operations across Kwara and Kogi states following investigations into the November 20, 2025, attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.
On November 18, 2025, armed bandits attacked the church, killing at least three worshippers and kidnapping 38 members, including the pastor, during an evening service.
The attack was captured on a live stream, sparking national outrage, with victims later released following a joint security operation.
According to Placid, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were involved in criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping, cattle rustling, culpable homicide, unlawful possession of firearms, arms dealing, and acts of terrorism.
He added that items recovered from the suspects include seven AK-47 rifles, seven magazines, one anti-aircraft launcher, 32 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, five walkie-talkie communication devices, and a camouflage hydration backpack.
Placid said, “Following the attack on the C.A.C. in Eruku Town, Ekiti LGA of Kwara State on November 20, 2025, operatives of the IRT, acting on credible human and technical intelligence, conducted coordinated operations across Kwara and Kogi States.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang was involved in criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping, cattle rustling, culpable homicide, unlawful possession of firearms, arms dealing, and acts of terrorism, for which a prima facie case has been established.
“The gang members were arrested at multiple locations, including Gbugbu, Ora-Ago, Baballa, Kaiama, Awi, Charagi, Patigi, and Oke-Ode. During the operations, the suspects abandoned an anti-aircraft rifle and three AK-47 rifles, which were subsequently recovered by the police. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend fleeing members of the gang and recover additional operational weapons.”
The police spokesman listed the 33 suspects arrested in connection with the case as Abubakar Usman, also known as Siddi, 26; Ibrahim Sa’idu, alias Idi Soho, 35; Adamu Mohammad, aka Baushe/Dogo, 58; Abdullahi Abubakar, aka Bature, 35; Abubakar Abdullahi, aka Turke, 35; Yusufa Isah, aka Munyaye, 50; Zubairu Abubakar, 35; Shaibu Usman, 35; Mohammed Lawai, aka Jalel, 40; Dahiru Adamu Mohammed, 50; and Mohammadu Audu, aka Alti, 40.
Others are Dahiru Alh. Ahmadu, 25; Iliyasu Umar, aka Magaji, 38; Usman Alh.
