A UK-based Nigerian woman has said she would not return permanently to Nigeria even for £15 million, explaining that her decision is rooted in the painful loss of two children she attributed to alleged medical negligence. According to Punch News, the woman said her migration was motivated by personal tragedy rather than financial considerations.
Speaking in a video interview shared on X, the Ogun State indigene rejected successive offers of £200,000, £300,000, £500,000, and £15 million to relocate permanently to Nigeria. She insisted that no amount of money could convince her to return.
The woman revealed that she lost two children in Nigeria within two years due to what she described as medical negligence. However, she declined to provide further details, saying revisiting the incidents would be too emotionally painful.
She also claimed that healthcare professionals in the United Kingdom were shocked whenever she recounted the circumstances surrounding her children’s deaths, describing their reactions as disbelief.
According to her, the UK’s healthcare system later saved the life of her son, whom she believes might not have survived had he been born in Nigeria. While acknowledging that medical errors can also occur in the UK, she maintained that such cases are far less common.
Her comments have sparked renewed discussions about healthcare standards, patient safety, and the need for continued improvements in Nigeria’s medical system.
